Job Description

The Technical Lead is responsible for a Product or Platform’s technical strategy and execution in support of realization of the Product roadmap. They will be responsible for building strong technical delivery teams to realize value while relentlessly focusing on impediment removal. The Technical Lead will also provide the technical and architectural direction for their Products or Platforms and build, test and support high-quality, innovative and fully performing solutions that comply with an overarching reference architecture, development standards and technical design principles. They champion best-practice technical practices and oversee the technical health of their respective Platform. They will be technical thought leaders who also communicate with product managers and customers to meet the needs of the business. The Technical Lead will build/lead large teams (up to 50 people) for efforts spanning multiple years and help manage budgets that may exceed $10M (US).

Job Duties

* Delivery Roadmap: Represent Platform in executive dialog about budget, staffing, scenario planning, partnerships and other key strategic discussions. Ensure roadmaps are achievable and strike the right balance between delivery timelines, costs, technology direction and operations. Provide guidance to the delivery team to ensure initiatives are well-defined.

 

* Delivery Management: Build, empower and coach teams to realize maximum value. · Maximize the flow of value delivered, systematically measuring and removing impediments, and ensuring a metrics-focused approach to measure objective realization and performance. Share insights that help improve productivity, leveraging knowledge of software delivery methods, Agile principles and methods, project management approaches, and industry best practices. Manage the operational aspects of the delivery team, ensuring financial, risk, legal, security and other compliance requirements are met. Work with the delivery team to ensure completed features get into the production environment and into the hands of stakeholders. Ensure supplier performance, including alignment with the organization’s ways of working and values, assessing performance and fostering strong relationships that encourage continuous improvement and innovation.

 

* Communications and Stakeholder Management: Coordinate strategic dialog across technical community, with partners, and with Olympus executives to drive and maintain alignment, support, and clarity on all areas related to Platform. Provide key insights to stakeholders on the progress of an initiative or feature from inception to delivery and into production, including visibility to development efforts and value metrics. Enhance communication and build trusting relationships across teams to align roadmaps, coordinate initiatives, manage risks and compliance responsibilities.

 

* Software Development: Determine strategic direction for technical team to best deliver agreed upon goals. Lead assessment of needs from the user and design, develop, and test software solutions that meet those needs.  Lead to responsible for the designing, coding and debugging related to Platform. Create documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, and code comments that illustrate the type of code needed. Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility. Document each aspect of a system or application as a reference for future upgrades and maintenance. Maintain compliance with applicable policies and procedures for areas such as Quality, Security, and Privacy.

 

* Improvements and Upgrades: Maintain clear plan for future improvements to Platform. Monitor performance of the software and tune or make improvements for enhanced usability. Recommend upgrades for existing systems and programs. Provide insight into development and service issues by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing necessary information.

 

* Other responsibilities / duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering or other related field (or equivalent and related experience).

 

* Certification in Agile methodologies is desired (not mandatory).

 

* Minimum of 10-15 years' experience in the assigned Business Domain/area.

 

* Minimum 7-10 years of software engineering or software development experience, preferably in a related field.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* In-depth knowledge of the assigned Business Domain/area and the corresponding processes, including key performance indicators, best-in-class practices, business and technology trends.

 

* Experience building a team in a global, matrixed environment.

 

* Experience in project/product/platform management.

 

* Hands-on programming experience using relevant languages.

 

* Experience using relevant software engineering tools.

 

* Broad understanding of technology topics such as (e.g., cloud products and platforms, micro-service architectures, automation, and API integration).

 

* Experience in operating internal and external communication management processes with autonomy and responsibility in a growing, multi-site, multi-disciplined organization.
