Job Description
The Supervisor, R&D Shared Services will lead our R&D technician team at the Brooklyn Park facility. This includes ownership of our test labs and to ensure our labs are compliant to applicable policies and procedures. The Supervisor is responsible to assign technicians to projects, monitor performance and to continually develop the technicians.
Job Duties
* Owns the test labs and acts as R&D’s main point of contact for labs.
* Ensure labs are complying to applicable SOPs/policies and is audit ready.
* Oversees equipment calibration, preventative maintenance, and repair.
* Assigns projects to staff as appropriate with input from R&D leadership regarding priority.
* Ensures that all staff are trained accordingly, and safety measures are in place where applicable.
* Ensures all team members employ Good Documentation Practices for data handling / integrity, testing observations, and lab notebooks.
* Works with R&D to ensure all test methods are appropriately developed & validated.
* Builds a network of external service providers to support the routine needs of R&D.
* Mentors and empowers staff, while also providing continuous performance feedback and yearly reviews.
* Reports teams efforts to R&D leadership as required.
* Performs all related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Associate Degree in a Technical Field or 7 years relevant industry experience is required.
* Experienced in product development, test method development (including fixture design & development), product testing, and Good Documentation Practices.
* Solidworks working knowledge and experience in developing efficient / manufacturable designs. Proficient in the creation and critical review of engineering drawings (appropriate tolerances) and tolerance analysis.
* Knowledge of common manufacturing methodologies, technologies, and materials employed in medical devices.
* Experience in the practical application of statistics and working knowledge of a statistical analysis package (Minitab).
* Experienced in solving challenging and/or ambiguous engineering problems with scientific logic and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* The following experience criteria are preferred. Exceptions to the criteria may be allowed for candidates that meet combinations of criteria or have additional exceptional skill sets.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of industry experience in a medical device development environment.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a project lead.
- Experience partnering with external suppliers to support the routine needs of R&D projects.
* Effective communication skills in both written and verbal form.
* Capable of building strong relationships with internal customers, maintain awareness of their needs, responds promptly to customer requests, and appropriately manages customer expectations.
* Must be capable of effectively managing internal and external resources considering varying priorities and responsibilities.
* Must be capable to drive efficiency, results, and continuous improvement.
* Proficient in Microsoft Windows Office applications including MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, etc.
