Job Description
This position is a part of the Advance Sourcing team that will be responsible for ensuring the coordination of all procurement activities and discussions related to a New Product Development (NPD) project and provide a communication focal point between the project team and associated suppliers. The Senior NPD buyer will be responsible for a smooth handoff to the appropriate production operations material buyers as product launch approaches, ensuring system accuracy of all key purchasing parameters. The Senior NPD Buyer will work in a matrix organization reporting directly to the Advance Sourcing Manager while taking guidance and supporting project stakeholders across multiple business units.
Job Duties
- Perform as a core member on multiple NPD project teams throughout the project life cycles.
- Serve as a primary focal point and liaison between suppliers and project teams.
- Ensure a clear understanding and communication of requirements between suppliers and project teams.
- Directly responsible for ensuring the timely availability of goods and services throughout the project life cycle (e.g. prototypes, engineering builds, validations, launch, etc.). Initiate required follow up and provide updates to the appropriate team members.
- Ensure total compliance to OSTA Purchasing Policy and OSTA Quality Management System.
- Support Advance Sourcing Managers (ASM’s) to develop a robust sourcing and supply chain strategy for all assigned projects.
- Contribute to total cost of ownership (TCO) reduction efforts and promotes communication across functions to identify and drive common policies and best practices to achieve cost reductions.
- Training skills to mentor and coach Associate Buyer’s and Buyers in the skills to support the Purchasing Function.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Associate’s degree is required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in business, engineering, purchasing or supply chain.
- Minimum of 5 years of Procurement experience is required.
- Medical Device Industry experience is preferred.
- NPD environment is highly desired.
Preferred:
- SAP/ERP skills.
- Oracle, (Oracle Cloud) experience is desirable.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $75,625.00 - $102,093.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
