Job Description


We are currently looking for an intern to join Packaging Engineering team in our Brooklyn Park, MN office. This program will run from May 24 - August 6, 2021. This is a full-time opportunity involving 40 hours per week.


This position requires on-site work. While onsite, this internship will follow all applicable COVID-19 work safety guidelines. This position may also be remote for a portion of the internship term.

Job Duties

As a Packaging Engineer Intern, you will contribute to our mission by working with the teams responsible for delivering product innovations.


Some projects our former interns have contributed to include:


*  Formulating test reports and accurately analyzing the results acquired.


*  Performing a series of Non-Destructive Tests (NDTs) that align with GSOP and/or ASTM’s standards .


*  Supporting troubleshooting efforts to packaging related field issues for design and manufacturing.


*  Working closely with Research and Development, Process Development, and other cross-functional teams to support daily production activities.


*  Communicating proposed ideas directly to managers, suppliers, other plants, etc.


A typical day for you will include:


*  Working with teams to support packaging remediation matrix and remediation activities across the multiple surgical manufacturing sites.


*  Working closely with R&D and Process Development in support of NPD activities.


*  Assisting with packaging testing.


*  Working with cross-functional teams on daily production support activities.


*  Assisting with implementing updates to our packaging policy through the leadership of a senior engineer.

Job Requirements



* Must be enrolled in a full time undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited 4-year institution. Preferred fields of study include Packaging Engineering, or related degree.


* Must complete sophomore year before the internship begins and graduate after the internship ends.


* Demonstrated ability to balance academic and extracurricular commitments (i.e. work experience, clubs, volunteer activities, teams, etc.).


* Basic engineering knowledge.


* Must possess excellent analytical and organizational skills.


* Must be proficient and have practical knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


* Must be able to work well within a team and independently at times with limited guidance.

*  Experience with CAD/CAM systems, preferably SolidWorks.


*  Experience in mechanical dimensioning and developments of drawing packages.


*  Understanding of basic packaging and specific medical packaging tests.


*  Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and deadline-driven environment.


*  Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize/execute multiple concurrent tasks.

*  Strong, professional communication skills.

*  Skilled in presentation development and public speaking.

*  General curiosity and a desire to learn new material.
