Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer-I will assist in supporting the day to day operation of the value stream or perform process development activities. They will strive to optimize processes for manufacture and product flow including down time mitigation, root cause investigations and cost savings initiatives.
Job Duties
- Support operations and new product/process development.
- Support the validation of equipment and processes as required (IQ, OQ, PQ).
- Support capacity planning, cost improvement and facilities layout for equipment moves and additions.
- Support operator training for new and existing processes.
- Partner with resources such as suppliers and Olympus sites to resolve technical issues or improve processes or products.
- Assess process capabilities, recommend process improvement opportunities. Innovate and implement process improvements.
- Participation on cross functional project teams.
- Review prints for new and existing products.
- Follows GWI’s, GSOP and owns MP's to ensure control of product/process design.
- Assist in the optimization of processes for manufacture and product flow including down time mitigation, root cause investigations and cost savings initiatives.
- Assist in the development of facilities layout for equipment moves and additions using Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Assist in time studies to capture continuous improvement activities.
- Initiate and implement change orders through the change order management system.
- Develop and update process and material specifications as required.
- Coordinate operator training for new and existing processes, products, and equipment.
- Assist in Coordination of external resources such as vendors and sister sites to resolve technical issues or improve processes or products.
- Write capital expenditure requests, gain approval, coordinate the purchase & installation of equipment, and track costs.
- Validate equipment and processes as required when making process improvements.
- May serve as an extended team member on PRP/NPD projects.
- All other essential related duties as required
Job Qualifications
Required:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in science/engineering discipline or equivalent industry
- Minimum of 0-2 years' experience in required filed.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of LEAN and Six Sigma tools.
- Ability to work well in a cross functional team.
- Technical writing skills.
- Knowledge of risk management documentation.
- Fixtures/tooling knowledge.
- CAD knowledge.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $62,500.00 - $84,374.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
