Job Description

Under the general direction of the Production Supervisor and/or Lead the Assembler demonstrates and is responsible for assembling high quality medical devices according to established quality and manufacturing guidelines while performing at or above the rate projected by the Production Supervisor or Lead.

Job Duties

  • Successfully attained the knowledge skills and abilities associated with the Assembler II job description.
  • Is skilled in assembling medical devices on a minimum of three or more product lines at or above the quantity standard rate projected by the supervisor or lead.
  • Displays a high level of competence in our Quality System Policies by referencing and explaining written line procedures.
  • Understands and follows all manufacturing procedures required to assemble product to specification.
  • Accurately completes and maintains written records of manufacturing operations on production documentation following appropriate training i.e. Device History Records Data Sheets Lot Control.
  • Consistently carries out instructions regarding priorities work schedules special assignments job standards and related information with minimal direction from the supervisor or lead.
  • Effectively uses interpersonal skills to support procedure changes and promote new procedures due to product line changes and technology changes.
  • Supports and collaborates with leads supervisors and/or engineers to identify and resolve line issues as well as suggest areas of improvement.
  • Proactively communicates insufficient product line material by informing the lead or supervisor.
  • Skillful in Shared Leadership activities. I.e. Kanban Management Calibration and Metrics Board Maintenance.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following and practicing good housekeeping and safety guidelines/policies. i.e. ergonomics job rotation stretching exercises tool handling and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain acceptable standards for attendance and punctuality and work overtime as needed.
  • Uses time effectively and constructively does not engage in idle conversation that disrupts others and or the assigned operation stays in the work area and does not abuse break times.
  • In addition to the duties above incumbents must successfully perform one or more of the following: Assist Technicians and/or Engineers with adjusting and troubleshooting automatic manufacturing equipment as needed. Designated Product Line Trainer. Designated Backup for Lead Assembler. Special skill set. e.g. bi-lingual specific job skill knowledge.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of previous medical device assembly experience.
  • Must be able to work effectively within MS Windows applications e.g. Excel Outlook Word and site specific PC programs as required to perform job duties following training. e.g. Oracle PLM MRP ERP and PED.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate by way of telephone e-mail or in person. to supervisors leads and team members.
  • Must be able to understand verbal and written work instructions with minimum direction.
  • Basic mathematical skills (add subtract multiply divide).
  • Must be able to work in a clean room environment and follow the clean room environment practices and procedures.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive work according to set procedures sequence and pace. 
  • Must have fine motor skills and high degree of speed dexterity and eye coordination to manipulate fine wire in order to work with and assemble small parts and subassemblies using both hands.
  • Must possess specific vision abilities including close vision and the ability to quickly adjust focus.

 

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of GDP GMP and Lean Manufacturing preferred.
  • Efficiently operates manufacturing and measurement equipment following appropriate training; not limited to: microscopes test equipment EFDs ultrasonic welders induction welder soldering irons dial calipers pressure gages and rulers.
  • In addition is able to well as documents in written form when applicable.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $20.47 - $26.61 / hour, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position, including level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
