Job Description

The Data Lead is responsible for managing the data services activities within the Olympus Insights & Analytics function. They are also responsible for maintaining the highest levels of data competency, accuracy standards and reporting capabilities across the organization.


The Data Lead is also responsible for advocating the use of data innovatively to solve challenges across the organization. They lead the business through all data efforts to drive business performance by using existing and new data sources and techniques. The Data Lead also supervises and manages the Global Data team to champion the use of data across the Olympus organization.

Job Duties

* Data Management

  • Optimize data capabilities, processes, and skills to ensure services are operated, monitored, supported, and maintained to best practice standards, aligned to Olympus-wide data service requirements and technology/ business strategy.
  • Lead and support the latest Data Management best practices, principles, and processes.
  • Manage the overall data architecture and manage, develop, prioritize, and recommend initiatives to improve and build upon the data architecture to support the business.


* Data Communication

  • Ensure consistency of process and usage, and champions best practices in data usage.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop strategies for leveraging data to gain deeper insight into Olympus business.


* People Management

  • Lead, motivate, develop, and appraise team members so that their individual and collective performance is of the required standard and meets the current and future needs of the business.


* Other responsibilities / duties as assigned.

Job Requirements



* Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, Information Systems, Statistics, Applied Math, Business Administration, or any other related field (or equivalent and related experience preferred).


* Minimum of 5 years of working experience in a data analyst or data warehousing position, preferably in a global and complex setting.


* Minimum of 8 years of experience in managing staff, including work review, performance reviews and day-to-day coaching.


* Extensive and successful experience in the planning and execution of data analytics initiatives, leading to the development of useful insights and improvement of business performance.


* Success in leading an analytics team.


* Strong understanding of how data is a strategic enabler and supports the realization of tangible business outcomes.


* Excellent familiarity with querying and reporting tools.




* Familiarity with OMB, FISMA, FIPS, HIPAA, and other federal regulations/ requirements associated with data/ information security.


* Experience within the life science field.


* Demonstrable analytical and conceptual thinking.


* Detail orientated.
