Job Description
The Senior Production Planner will have responsibility for the supply chain production planning execution of the products manufactured within their assigned finished goods/subassemblies, including the processes which impact production scheduling, capacity planning, and inventory management through all of the product life cycle phases to ensure demand and supply are aligned.
The role will involve a high degree of change management as they continue to balance the often conflicting goals of inventory reduction, delivery performance improvement, optimization of capacity usage, and production throughput lead time reduction in an effort to deliver the optimal results for the business.
This role will be responsible for setting planning parameters in accordance to the strategy that they have been involved in developing and will act as a mentor and train team members to lift the performance of the group.
Job Duties
- Responsible for the daily creation, maintenance, execution, attainment reporting, and issue escalation of production planning; capacity planning; issuance, prioritization, and control of production scheduling; inventory plan attainment; and related outside services to ensure a controlled flow of approved inventory timed to meet production and demand requirements while balancing inventory, demand, and capacity plans in coordination with the 5E Team.
- Responsible for accuracy of ERP system data including planning parameters within the item master by completing an analysis at least once per quarter and leading a review / proposal of changes.
- Responsible for keeping accurate work order start and completion dates, inventory plans, and product availability information used by management to communicate during times of supply shortage, warehouse operations for management of space requirements and pull system material flow processes throughout the site, and during critical discussions to evaluate the balance of supply and demand against the forecasted requirements.
- Collaborate with other OSTA sites as needed for proper material supply.
- Responsible for the escalation to upper management of potential impacts to production and coordination with Supply Chain and Material Review Boards and 5E Teams as needed to identify root cause of recurrent problems and support and leading resolution to ensure that materials, and services are provided as needed.
- Work with the 5E Teams in supporting and leading all activities to drive improvements in production lead times, efficiencies, and productivity, including developing high level understanding of the production processes, detailed understanding of the critical resources and their capacity constraints (people and equipment) and the production scheduling groupings that drive the most efficient use of set-ups, as well as all transfer projects between sites.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Upstream Marketing, R&D, and Customer Service teams in supporting and leading activities related to sales forecasts, new product development, product rationalization, and component obsolescence.
- Responsible for the accurate reporting of demand requirements for manufactured items to Operations in order to establish proper capacity planning for both labor and equipment, and proper production scheduling for order fulfilment.
- Responsible for communicating requirements in demand for New Products, PWO's, EWO's, POR's, etc. to Purchasing in order to establish proper purchasing volumes for supplier negotiations and ample inventory.
- Support the Change Order and MRB Processes for all activities to minimize impacts to customer order fulfillment, inventory plan attainment, and production schedules.#All other essential duties as directed.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or supply chain management required.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in medical device industry required, or equivalent work history required.
- Advanced experience and strong knowledge of ERP Systems, MRP, Forecasting and demand planning, Inventory, Production Shop Floor, and Resource & Capacity Planning is required.
- Advanced proficiency of Oracle or SAP ERP system.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of BOM's, routers, and Change Order management required.
Preferred:
- APICS CPIM certification preferred.
- Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Advanced analytical (supply & demand) and problem-solving skills (i.e., root cause analysis, Pareto analysis, Run Charting, Fishbone Diagram, 5 Why, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Adept at working independently or part of a team.
- Experience working within a matrix organization preferred.
- Strong decision making, time management, prioritization, motivation skills required.
- Must be adaptable and flexible, feel comfortable and have experience in leading a cross functional team.
- Strong Knowledge of 5E & General Business processes preferred.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of lot and serial control traceability a plus.
