Job Description

Under the direction of the supervisor, the Electronic Technician II shall inspect, diagnose and repair Olympus and Olympus-related electronic products using a variety of test equipment to diagnose and make repairs.  Assists Associate and Electronic I Technicians to troubleshoot the complex problems on electronic units.  Completes and maintains accurate service records both electronically and manually.  Ensures that safe work practices are employed by observing guidelines established or enforced by Olympus.

Job Duties

  • The Electronics Technician II has substantial understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks.
  • The Electronics Technician II may either:
    • perform multiple repair tasks,
    • cover absenteeism by working in other areas as a “floater”; or
    • provide on-the-job training to other Technicians.
  • The Electronics Technician II may support the Senior and Lead Technician to investigate and troubleshoot quality problems and reworks.
  • Investigate intermittent and unknown phenomena.
  • May conduct and support production related audits.
  • The technician must understand and accept the responsibility to ensure the safety of all Olympus or Olympus-related products that are repaired, by following established processes and procedures.
  • Proactively participates in the quality systems, quality improvement and “5S” programs as directed by the Supervisor and/or Manager. Maintains confidentiality of documents and processes.
  • The technician must accomplish these objectives while maintaining a clean, well-organized work environment. The technician will be expected to maintain acceptable standards for attendance and punctuality, and as a condition of employment, work overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • AA/AS degree in Electronics/Electrical/Computer/Mechanical Engineering preferred or 4 years of equivalent knowledge and responsibilities in the Electronics/Electrical/Computer/Mechanical Engineering technical field.
  • Experience or ability to work with test equipment (such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, pattern generators).
     

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated ability to teach and model technical skills, concepts, resources and tools
  • Candidates must have sufficient manual dexterity with small hand tools.
  • Good communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • The ability to read and follow manuals, work instructions, job standards and related information.
  • Possess basic computer skills (including keyboard and mouse skills.
  • Must be customer focused/oriented.
