Job Description

The Research Scientist II maintains responsibility for the development of solutions for various Non-Destructive Test (NDT) modalities including but not limited to Eddy Current, Ultrasound, Phased Array and Guided Waves.   Specifically, the individual  will; Contribute to development projects through feasibility studies of methods with documentation that lead to solutions or a better understanding of a technology as it relates to the market;  Research, collect and report information for validation of existing company product, competing products or new technology;  He/ she acts as a technical liaison with other departments as it relates to applications or technological issues.  The successful candidate should be self-motivated, results oriented, have good technical writing skills with ability to work in a team environment.

Job Duties

In a typical day, you will:

 

* Developing a deep understanding of the operation, applications and technical design of Olympus NDT instruments and accessories.

 

* Maintain responsibility for the development of new applications and solutions for various NDT modalities including but not limited to Eddy Current, Ultrasound, Phased Array and Guided Waves.  

 

* Research, collect and report information for validation of existing company product, competing products or new technology.

 

* Contribute to development projects through feasibility studies of methods with documentation that lead to solutions or a better understanding of a technology as it relates to the market.

 

* Act as a technical liaison with other departments as it relates to applications or technological issues. 

 

* Collaborate with multiple business departments, including global business centers, global sales representatives, NDT business development managers, engineering, commercial operations, and marketing/communications to complete tasks.

 

* Perform other duties as assigned.
 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, material sciences, or equivalent.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* PHD preferred.

 

* Minimum 2 years of work experience preferred.

 

* Computer Languages knowledge an asset (MATLAB, LABVIEW, C++).

 

* DSP Signal processing.

 

* Electromagnetic & wave propagation theory preferred.

 

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

* Ability to thrive in an international business environment.

 

*  Ability to work as an individual or in a team setting.
