Job Description

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer maintains responsibility for providing Manufacturing Engineering leadership/mentorship to Sustaining and New Product Development products that are built by 3rd party vendors and/or at one of OSTAs manufacturing sites. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will ensure engineering teams are aligned to the business strategy of the department/company. He/ she represents manufacturing as a leader/team member to support new product development and continuous improvement through the role of core team member and/orcontinuous improvement leader. The incumbent understands and possess a business acumen to prioritize work load to align to business goals. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer may serve as backup to the Management Representative for the location.

Job Duties

In a typical day, you will:

 

* Drive operations and process development activities.

 

* Drive system changes (GWIs GSOP forms) and business systems(Line Balance work content tools).

 

* Drive Design for Manufacturability and Assembly in existing product teams.

 

* Mentor/Lead the validation of equipment and processes as required(IQ OQ PQ).

 

* Mentor and implement capacity planning cost improvement and facilities layout for equipment moves and additions.

 

* Perform training for new and existing processes.

 

* Lead discussions with resources such as suppliers and Olympus sites to resolve technical issues or improve processes or products.

 

* Assess process capabilities prioritize process improvementopportunities.

 

* Innovate andimplement process improvement activities.

 

* Leadership of cross functional project teams.

 

* Review prints for new and existing products.

 

* Follows Olympus global work instructions and operatingprocedures.

 

* Owns MPs to ensure controlof product/process design. 

 

* Perform other duties as assigned .

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Associates degree in Mechanical or Industrial engineering or equivalent work experience.

 

* Minimum of 10 years related experience Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment.

 

* Ability to travel domesticlly and internationally (10%).

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Collaborate with other departments including Olympus Corporate resources.

 

* Ability to manage multiple priorities and multiple tasks simultaneously.

 

* Strong verbal communication skills.

 

* Must be a highly organized self-managed individual who works independently with minimum supervision and the ability to work in fast paced environment.
